Message from the Director

Dear Merit Shop Friend,

Thank you for your support and welcome to the new Coalition for Fair Employment in Construction Website!

It's hard to believe that another year has passed in our efforts to keep California PLA-free. For much of the last decade, CFEC has been leading the fight to discard these destructive, wasteful and discriminatory union-only agreements in favor of policies that will instead ensure open competition and equal opportunity for all workers - whether union or non-union - and we have been making a substantial difference.

While the threat of Project Labor Agreements still looms across California, the days of PLAs just rolling into effect unopposed are long gone. Unfortunately, our opponents, well funded and fanatically dedicated to discriminating against you, have stepped up their desperate efforts to keep this threat alive.

Union bosses see PLAs and the subversion of a fair, democratic process as their only means of survival. But for us, the ideals of freedom, fairness, and open competition without discrimination are also a matter of survival.

With the corner turning in our favor, it is time to take our campaign to the next level and take back our state and our livelihoods once and for all.

Here is just a partial list of the PLAs currently under consideration:

THAT IS OVER $15 BILLION IN POTENTIAL WORK ON WHICH YOU MAY NOT HAVE A FAIR OPPORTUNITY TO PARTICIPATE!

Despite our numerous victories, union bosses remain relentless in their efforts to subvert the free, fair, and open democratic process and discriminate against YOU!

We hope concerned contractors like you will be able to help us. By doing so, you will not only help us ensure open competition, but thanks to our 501-C-3 status, you can write off your contribution!

Your support is critical to our campaign to keep the doors of opportunity open for all workers no matter what their union affiliation.

Please go to our Donation and Direct Action HQ pages to find out how you can support us in our fight to ensure a fair, open, and democratic process for all merit shop workers.

On behalf of the CFEC, thank you for your consideration and support!

Sincerely,

Eric Christen
